The products included in the R&TTE Directive are:
1. Short-range wireless remote control products
For example: remote control toy car, remote control alarm system, remote control doorbell, remote control switch, remote control mouse, keyboard, etc.
2. Professional radio remote control products and communication terminal products
For example: professional wireless walkie-talkie, wireless microphone, etc. There are rope telephone, fax, MODEM, telephone answering machine, small switchboard (PABX), cordless telephone CTO, CT1, CT1+.. ISDN (Digital Telephone Products), DECT (Enhanced Digital Cordless Telephone), GSM, CDMA, etc.
3. Bluetooth products
For example: Bluetooth headset, etc.
For radio and communication terminal products, test certification includes:
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test
Safety Regulation (LVD) testing (in the new directive, RF products for battery input are also required to perform this test)
Radio Communication Equipment Testing (RF Testing) in accordance with European ETSI Standard
Notification of Permissible Spectrum in Europe
CTR (TBR) test
Electrical Safety and Health Protection Testing (SAR Assessment)
Spectrum Management and Equipment Classification under R&TTE Instruction
1. Spectrum Management
The goal of unifying the European market necessitates the harmonization of the frequency of use of radio equipment within the EC. This part of the work is mainly completed by the European Radio Communications Office (ERO). It was established in May 1991. Its main objective is to plan a 9 kHz to 275 GHz universal spectrum allocation table and spectrum strategy for Europe. In addition to the spectrum allocation table, it is very important to understand the specific use of frequency for coordinating the spectrum of each member country. Therefore, ERO has developed a spectrum information system (EFIS) for each member country to be used by the industry and the competent authorities of each member country.
2. Equipment Classification
According to the EU Decision 2000/299/EC, the EU divides all equipment belonging to the R&TTE Directive into two categories:
CLASS 1 equipment: unrestricted radio and telecommunication terminal equipment for market use;
CLASS 2 equipment: European Union countries that cause harmful interference believe that restricted radio equipment is needed.
The frequency bands and applications of CLASS 1 and CLASS 2 can be seen in 1999/5/EC.
Coordination Standards under R&TTE Directives
1. Adoption of harmonized standards
The coordination standard under R&TTE instruction involves four aspects: security, electromagnetic compatibility, spectrum performance and special equipment performance. The European Electrotechnical Commission (CENELEC) is responsible for the development of security standards and non-wireless EMC standards for terminal equipment (CENELEC is also responsible for the development of general EMC standards); the European Telecommunication Standards Association (ETSI) is responsible for the EMC standards, spectrum performance standards and special equipment performance standards for radio equipment (including wireless terminal equipment). Fixed.
For technical conformity, the basic requirements of R&TTE instructions are mandatory, while the adoption of coordination standards is voluntary. There are three ways for communication equipment to achieve the conformity requirements of R&TTE instructions:
(1) Coordination standards under R&TTE instructions are adopted, and these standards are applicable to the type of equipment. If the equipment meets the relevant coordination standards, it can be inferred that the equipment meets the requirements contained in the above coordination standards in the basic requirements of the instruction.
(2) For the safety standards, the safety coordination standards under the LVD instructions applicable to the type of equipment can be selected.
(3) Select other technical standards, but the manufacturer needs to explain how the equipment meets the basic requirements of the R&TTE directive according to the conformity assessment requirements.
